This client was referred to TMI by a reconstructive surgeon following a corrective lip surgery. While the operation successfully addressed the structural concerns, it left subtle signs of asymmetry, tone variation, and scar texture that disrupted the natural flow of the lip contour. The client sought not only to refine the visual balance of their lips but also to regain the sense of normalcy and confidence that comes from seeing natural harmony restored in their features.

The unique challenge lay in the combination of scar tissue and uneven pigmentation. Scarred areas tend to absorb pigment differently, often resulting in patchy or grayish tones if not approached with careful planning. Because the client was referred by a surgeon, it was essential for our team to respect the post-surgical anatomy and healing integrity. Every decision from pigment formulation to stroke direction had to align with the existing structure to ensure a result that complemented the surgeon’s work while restoring balance and softness to the lips.

We began with a full assessment of the healed surgical tissue to determine pigment retention and blending strategy. Using neutral undertones designed to match the client’s natural lip shade, we carefully rebuilt his upper lip outline with pixel precision. Soft, gradient shading was applied to subtly redefine the lip border and disguise tonal irregularities caused by scarring. Our focus was on restoring balance without altering his natural character, using light pigment layering and minimal saturation for an imperceptible finish.
